April 30, 2010 - Inguz

Inguz

Inguz is the suffix –ing

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Ing was first seen by men among the East-Danes,
till, followed by his chariot,he departed eastwards over the waves. So the Heardingas named the hero
The rune that has started this month, defined this month, now ends this month. With the final burst of energy that has been held and developing pushes us forth into May. Forces are set in motion as the long winter quickens into spring.

April 29, 2010 - Mannaz

Mannaz

Mannaz is the letter M

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The joyous man is dear to his kinsmen;
yet every man is doomed to fail his fellow, since the Lord by his decree will commit the vile carrion to the earth

Mannaz, the rune of Humanity, is an expression of everything human. from the most primal sense to the highest and ideal conception. Our minds, hearts, lineages, social connections, divisions, prejudices, and spiritual essence, are all comprised within the simple, yet complex form of Mannaz.
Mannaz expresses the both internal and external influences within the day. It is internal, because you can control how you react to anything, mastering the personal man, and lettings yourself act from a place of that personal mastery. It is an external rune, because it shows the presence of people coming into your life, and exerting their influence on you. Generally, the influence will be benevolent, even from the most annoying or upsetting of encounters. If you are having problems and find yourself being very upset, or seemingly having a moment that will “ruin” your day, spend some time with Mannaz. Imagine it in your mind, draw it, galdr Mannaz, and allow the forces of this rune to help in aligning you, restoring your center and focus, and possibly clearing the mind so that the right action or response can be perceived by you.

April 28, 2010 - Nauthiz

Nauthiz

Nauthiz is the letter N

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Trouble is oppressive to the heart;
yet often it proves a source of help and salvationto the children of men, to everyone who heeds it betimes

Nauthiz shows that trouble is coming, and that necessities need to be met. However, in this case, Necessity is taking it’s proverbial role as the mother of invention. Acknowledge your troubles, and take time to consider them and work with them. Whatever it is, it will open up to you, and show you new possibilities and that will resolve them.

April 27, 2010 - Cweorth

Cweorth

Cweorth is the letter Q

There is no rune poem for Qweorth. It is a Northumbrian Rune
Qweorth for me today was the cleansing fire, taking away impurity, removing harmful and unhealthy influences from me. Things that were ready to be taken, consumed and released from me, and purified so they can go to where they are needed.

April 26, 2010 - Os reversed

Os reversed

Os is the letter O

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The mouth is the source of all language,
a pillar of wisdom and a comfort to wise men,a blessing and a joy to every knight
Os reversed significes challenges with communication, speech and the voice. Being that at this time, the planet Mercury is going in retrograde motion, it seems entirely appropriate that this sign would appear. By the nature of it’s reversed position, Os also gives what I perceive and always found to be the answer to these communication difficulties. Speaking inward, as expressed through reflection, meditation and contemplation, in a sense, taking time to consider what you are going to say, and making sure that what you say is clear, and after saying it, checking in that the communication is clear. All these happen best, when silence is present, and so the need to stop communicating outwardly for a moment, and process what the really needs to be said on the inside.
Of course, a key sign of the lack of these skills is the argument, such as my neighbors are having right now, screaming and shouting and using strong language, which only shows that not only is no one listening to the others, but they are also not listening themselves. Disagreements happen, of course, but to resort to verbal violence shows that communication is being ineffective for all parties involved.

April 25, 2010 - Cenaz

Cenaz

Cenaz is the letter C

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The torch is known to every living man by its pale, bright flame;
it always burns where princes sit within.

Cenaz is the rune for Sunday, a spark and light, giving inspired knowledge, illumination and personal revelation. The energy of cenaz brings the inspired knowledge, knowledge that has enflames passion, purpose and makes things clear. Often this can be clearly seen in craft, art and invention, where the image that has inspired the creator, pushes her to create. This passion can help one push through personal obstacles, both interntal and external, illuminating them with it’s pale light. It is often more personal as opposed to other runes of light, such as Sowilo, or Dagaz, and often more practical too. It is the more human flame. Some others have also commented that it can also quicken the fires of love, an assertion I would agree with as well. It should be used with other runes however, as pure passion unchecked, can go to unpleasant and undesirable places. Even the most benevolent fires can burn both ways.

April 25 - May 1, 2010 - Dagaz

Dagaz

Dagaz is the letter D

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Day, the glorious light of the Creator, is sent by the Lord;
it is beloved of men, a source of hope and happiness to rich and poor, and of service to all.

This week is characterized by the Rune Dagaz, the rune of the Day, of Change, and a rune of Time. It signifies that this week will be filled with all those opportutinies, weather for the light of Day bringing boon or bane, and the changes that will come from it.

April 24, 2010 - Feoh reversed

Feoh reversed

Feoh is the letter F

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Wealth is a comfort to all men;
yet must every man bestow it freely,if he wish to gain honour in the sight of the Lord

Feoh reversed shows problems, challenges, and obstacles with wealth, money and finances. Especially for me today at least (I know am posting this late, but I did do the reading on Saturday morning). I think I got carried away with some frivolous purchases. So, I now need to behave myself, and probably work with some money protection spells, just to curtail my own wild spending. Of course, I don’t regret acquiring what I purchased, but I really didn’t need to purchase so much. But they were just so dazzling, I found it hard to resist.

April 23, 2010 - Cweorth

Cweorth

Cweorth is the letter Q

There is no rune poem for Qweorth. It is a Northumbrian Rune.
Qweorth, the fire-twirl, the sacred fire is the rune for today. Friday’s for me tend to be a pretty significant day for Qweorth. Friday is when I make offerings to my spiritual allies and Gods, thanking them for their blessings, and for the challenges they place before me. This typically involves a lot of candles, some for the Gods, some for the ancestors, some for the spirits and wights who I work with. As the fire consumes the wick and candle, it is a way for me to send my gratitude to them, along with the smell of burning incense, and a final candle, a spell for love (it’s Friday, I am not going to ignore the energies that are there). So the sacred fire is everywhere in my home today, with tea lights, offertory candles, smoking incense sticks, and other fires I maybe feeding. A sign that offerings are recognized, being consumed by the flame, are also accepted.

April 22, 2010 - Berkana

Berkana

Berkana is the letter B

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The birch bears no fruit; yet without seed it brings forth suckers,
for it is generated from its leaves.Splendid are its branches and gloriously adornedits lofty crown which reaches to the skies.

Ok, honestly I think the runes are just mocking me today. Why? It’s Earth Day. And the Rune is Berkana. Them sons of bitches is hilarious.
With all serious though, Berkana points to growth and nurturing. It just depends upon what is being nurtured. Once can nurture unhealthy, harmful and baneful things, as well as helpful, healing, and benevolent things as well. Whether it is baneful or helpful is up to you and your needs and situation. It reminds me of a show I saw recently, where a character kept a greenhouse with a beautiful garden, that she was much celebrated for. But to the knowledgeable, they realized it was a greenhouse filled with poisonous plants, especially of the hallucinogenic kind like Datura, but also henbane, belladonna, and digitalis. It can work the same within yourself, with your friends, with your employment choices and your environment. What are you really growing for yourself?

April 21, 2010 - Aesc reversed

Aesc reversed

Aesc is the dipthong “ae”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The ash is exceedingly high and precious to men.
With its sturdy trunk it offers a stubborn resistance, though attacked by many a man.

Aesc reversed is the rune for today, the day of Odhinn. To me Aesc is the rune of the upper worlds, and of the primal substance (or essence) from which men (and ultimately all things) are created from. To be drawing upon this primal substance brings ecstasy, like being touched by Divinity, inspiration, but it can also bring madness and escapist obsession. When it is reversed, it can mean the absence of those things. Today however, Aesc reversed to me indicates that this primal substance is being grounded, channeled down into the middle world, to vitalize and rejuvenate the manifested. The inspiration, the primal essence is still there, but it is becoming crystallized as it comes into the middle world. The frenetic and powerful energy is cooled off, so that it can be made useful.

April 20, 2010 - Gebo

Gebo

Gebo is the letter G

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Generosity brings credit and honour, which support one's dignity;
it furnishes help and subsistenceto all broken men who are devoid of aught else.

Gebo, the rune of Gifts, Generosity, and Partnership is the rune for today. Thinking about Gebo causes me to ponder where I need to be generous, and where I might have potential to gain gifts. It also makes me ponder partnership. All types of interactions with people is partnership, a coming together of people where an understanding or contract, whether written, spoken, or assumed, comes into play. Whether it is the social contract of proper business attire and etiquette, to the intimate agreement of people coming together in romance or passion, to the exchange of a worshipper making offerings to the Powers that be, whether for blessings already given, or for gifts that are being sought. It is all of these exchanges that Gebo points to. It is when the contract is broken that problems arise.

I have a lot of partnerships in my life. From how I relate to my progenitors, to my siblings, employers, friends, and potential areas of business engagement, right now partnership seems to be the driving force in my life, and possibly for this year. Through partnership, I can improve, if I honor those commitments, and give and receive ethically with all those I am partnering with.

April 19, 2010 - Gar

Gar

There is no letter equivalent for Gar

There is no rune poem for Gar. It is a Northumbrian rune.

Today’s rune is Gar. It is amusing, because I was thinking about Gar last night, before I fell asleep. I was think about the blank slate quality that Gar seems to express to me. It is empty, and yet full. In the sense that it is Ginnugagap and yet, also Yggdrasil, the void and the World Tree, in it’s emptiness, it can have everything, but by being everything it loses nothing.

Whenever I draw Gar for the daily rune, I notice that I seem to have unusual luck. Unusual, because it is unexpected and often arises out of the most obscure corners. It doesn’t even come out something forgotten, that has been left alone, but really just out of nowhere, something beneficial will happen. It feels like Gar is showing an open door, but where it leads you can never know until you pass through.
There is also a quality to Gar that I can only express as being similar in sense to the qabalistic concept of that which precedes Kether; Ain, Ain Soph, and Ain Soph Aur. It is the forces which precede all of manifestation, that are without any quality that men, Gods or any other being can perceive. It is that quality which makes it blank, the negation of everything, including negation.

April 18, 2010 - Ear reversed

Ear reversed

Ear is the dipthong “ea”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The grave is horrible to every knight,
when the corpse quickly begins to cooland is laid in the bosom of the dark earth.Prosperity declines, happiness passes awayand covenants are broken
While the rune for the week is Ear, the rune for today is Ear reversed. The entropy and decay of Ear takes time, and it’s influence isn’t necessarily always felt strongly or clearly. So, the seeming disintegration that has just begun, is not yet evident for me, although I imagine it will come around. Although my personal experience of Mercury retrograde is different then most others, as my birth occurred during just such an event. Being a Gemini, a sign ruled by Mercury, I feel it’s changes mostly strongly, but generally for me, I tend to live in a Mercury Retrograde world all the time. Often, when this celestial event occurs, it’s like everyone steps into my day to day life. For that reason, I often manage it quite well. Not always, and not totally hundred percent, but often much better then many other people I know and have witnessed. So, for now, things have not yet started to fall apart for me yet. The center is holding, for now.

April 18 - 24, 2010 - Ear

Ear

Ear is the dipthong ea

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The grave is horrible to every knight,
when the corpse quickly begins to cooland is laid in the bosom of the dark earth.Prosperity declines, happiness passes awayand covenants are broken
Ear is the rune of week, speaks to what has started today and will continue for the next three weeks. As most occult-minded readers will know, it is the beginning of Mercury Retrograde. During this time, it appears that the planet Mercury is moving backwards in the sky. As Ear represents the forces of death, decay and entropy, it marks the disintegration that occurs under all the things that are influenced by Mercury. While this confusion is happening for most though, to those who are diligent, focused and take the time to review, re-read, and re-examine, life will flow more smoothly. Even as the decline sets in, if you are skilled, you can move with the entropy. At the end of the Retrograde, unresolved or lingering elements might be removed, and allow you begin anew, which is part of the mystery of Mercury Retrograde.

April 17, 2010 - Cweorth

Cweorth

Cweorth is the letter Q

Cweorth does not have a rune poem. It is a Northumbrian rune.

The rune of the fire-twirl, Cweorth, is the sacred and holy fire, from which other flames are light, and offerings are consumed that they can be sent to the Gods. The eternal fire. Everything that is touched by it is transformed, sometimes to benefit, sometimes to be destroyed. But, if you reach in, you might just seize the flame itself, and learn to dance with the fire, and embrace the powers of both, balanced with skill and wisdom.

What does that mean? In a practical way, it takes your passions and energizes them, encouraging action, motion and force. It might also burn the obstacles out of your way, whether those obstacles be external or internal. With those obstacles cleared, new things might grow and mature in their place.
I have also been contemplating some of the primal cosmological forces of the Northern Tradition, and it is interesting that Cweorth, the rune that embodies on of those forces as appeared. The balance and juxtaposition of Fire and Ice, and how that also plays out in other ways is an interesting concept to think about and apply.

April 16, 2010 - Wunjo reversed

Wunjo reversed

Wunjo is the letter W

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Bliss he enjoys who knows not suffering, sorrow nor anxiety,
and has prosperity and happiness and a good enough house
And so we have turned, from a day of Bliss to Wunjo reversed. Which doesn’t necessarily mean that everything will go wrong, but it does indicate that there will be anxiety, and perhaps some sorrow and suffering. But then, that is the nature of Joy. It is not a constant thing, but something that comes goes, like any other emotion. You may still have prosperity and a good enough house, but suddenly, that isn’t enough any more. So, what do you do? Manage the best you can. People may vex you, and irritations and annoyances will arise. That is the way of life. It is only the people who have fallen under influence of another who know only bliss, because they no longer have control over their lives, as they are slaves in body and mind.

April 15, 2010 - Feoh

Feoh

Feoh is the letter F

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Wealth is a comfort to all men;
yet must every man bestow it freely,if he wish to gain honour in the sight of the Lord
Feoh is the rune of Wealth, Gold and Riches. As it is the wealth rune of portable wealth, it seems that when most people I have met who know anything about runes, it usually involves Feoh and how they can work with it. It does tend to bring money with it wherever it appears or is used. Sometimes that means it needs to be spent, without fear or concern and know that the expenditure will bring benefit. Other times, it will be coming to you. Either way, it is best to have a little financial wisdom when seeing this rune appear.

April 14, 2010 - Wunjo

Wunjo

Wunjo is the letter W/V (think german W)

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Bliss he enjoys who knows not suffering, sorrow nor anxiety,
and has prosperity and happiness and a good enough house.

Wunjo (bliss) is also often translated as Joy, Happiness and is also equated with wishes (wonne, a German word for wishing). It is the essential gamarunar (joy rune) and it describe the presence and activity of all those things when it appears in a reading. You can expect a peaceful, pleasant and harmonious day when Wunjo appears. Wunjo also works well to bring those influence into a place, a person or within a certain time.

April 13, 2010 - Os reversed

Os reversed

Os is the vowel O, like “goat ‘

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (fromragweedforge.com)

The mouth is the source of all language,
a pillar of wisdom and a comfort to wise men,a blessing and a joy to every knight

Os reversed is the closed mouth. Instead of speaking, there is silence, voices are muted, and messages are missed. In contemplating this, I had the thought of how this could be a good and a bad thing. Silence gives us opportunities to think, reflect and contemplate, especially on the internal forces that churn and chatter away within all of us. In that silence, it is possible for wisdom and personal knowledge to grow, until the time to speak has returned.

As a bad thing, Os reversed can show all the worst of poor communication, messages missed or poorly expressed, misinterpretations of communication, and perhaps even arguments, and sometimes just out right being silenced, having your voice stopped by outside influences.

There is the possibility of both of these expressions today, but I sense the choice remains with each person of how to experience it, and you just might experience both.

April 12, 2010 - Thurisaz reversed

Thurisaz reversed

Thurisaz is the sound “th”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The thorn is exceedingly sharp,
an evil thing for any knight to touch, uncommonly severe on all who sit among them.

Thurisaz reversed is the expression of a harmful power that is turned around to be protective and guarding. It is not focused on the querent of the reading (such as myself) but instead is keep harmful influences in abeyance. I think for myself part of this extends from the personal work of cleansing that I engaged in today, that by cleaning away any harm that maybe on me, It works to keep it further away from me as well.
I just had another thought about the power of Thurisaz. Part of it’s ability is to penetrate past barriers, either ones that have been constructed, or one that are inhibiting a person. It does this not by overwhelming them, but by finding the weak point, the flaw that when it is struck, bring the rest of the structure with it. This could also be shaped into helping one perceive those key areas, whether for good or ill. If you can perceive your own weakness, you can work to overcome it or transform it. If you can see what composition of the pattern, you can determine how to change the pattern, whether for good or ill, and to know what to do and when to do it to make those changes occur.

April 11, 2010 - Gar

Gar

There is no letter for Gar

There is no rune poem for Gar. It is a Northumbrian Rune.

Gar is the final rune of the Anglo-Saxon/Northumbrian Futhorc. As it falls out of the neat division of rows of eight letters each, it stands outside of the usual ordering. The name is usually translated as spear.
Gar is, as always, the cosmic blank slate. All things and No things expressed as n/one

April 11 - April 17, 2010 - Ehwaz reversed

Ehwaz reversed

Ehwaz is the short e vowel, as in “get”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The horse is a joy to princes in the presence of warriors.
A steed in the pride of its hoofs, when rich men on horseback bandy words about it;and it is ever a source of comfort to the restless

Ehwaz reversed countenances patience, and to move forward slowly. Sometimes it may tell you to move slowly, other times it just turns out you are in a situation where you have no choice but to move like molasses in January. Either way, avoid acting hastily, don’t make short, fast “spur of the moment” trips, and you might want to double check everything before you leave, or else you might end up forgetting things.

April 10, 2010 - Cenaz reversed

Cenaz reversed

Cenaz is the letter C

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The torch is known to every living man by its pale, bright flame;
it always burns where princes sit within.

I am feeling uninspired. Which is the meaning of Cenaz reversed as well. The lack of inspiration, which if I was working on a creative project might be problematic, but since I am just enjoying my free time and doing routine things on this Saturday, it’s not a challenge or problem for me. Perhaps letting the flame smoulder and just not having to be bright and burning is a good thing today.

April 9, 2010 - Ear reversed

Ear reversed

Ear is the sound “ea”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The grave is horrible to every knight,
when the corpse quickly begins to cooland is laid in the bosom of the dark earth.Prosperity declines, happiness passes awayand covenants are broken.

The words that came to me after pulling this rune was “I guess I’ll die another day” (yes, Madonna’s song) and that was about it. Sometimes resisting the slow gradual changes are a good things. Things need to be preserved until the end, and maintenance and upkeep are important things to hold the slow, inexorably forces of entropy and decay in abeyance. That isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes you have to walk your own path, and that may mean choosing the time and place for the end, and not having others choose it for you.

Thursday, April 8, 2010

April 8, 2010 - Aethel reversed

Aethel reversed

Aethel is the dipthong “oe”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

An estate is very dear to every man,
if he can enjoy there in his housewhatever is right and proper in constant prosperity

It was a little shocking to see the reversed rune of the rune of the week show up today. It seemed odd, but I guess even the most harmonious home will always have a little friction in it, at least to keep things interesting for those involved. After a moment of contemplation, I think it is speaking more to the cabin fever, of being in the home, secure and comfortable for too long. Eventually the desire for stimulation, interaction and variety push even the most established home body out in the open space. The discord at home might be brought about because, as a saying I have heard goes “Familiarity breeds contempt.” Stepping outside, at least to get away from others, as much as get away from yourself.

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

April 7, 2010 - Eolhx

Eolhx

Eolhx is the letters z or x

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)
The Eolhx-sedge is mostly to be found in a marsh;
it grows in the water and makes a ghastly wound, covering with blood every warrior who touches it

Eolhx, one of those mysterious runes whose exact name or meaning is unclear, is typically thought to me mean “elk.” In the Anglo-Saxon poem, it describes a type of still marsh grass, that can leave behind a nasty and deep paper cut, if it is handled incorrectly.

This rune is typically associated with protection. Where that protection comes from, is another debate, but almost always it is protection. How are you protected? What are you protected from? Who are you protecting? Why does it need protection?
It seems like a lot of people confuse protection and defense. To me, the difference is activity. Protection just is. It is passive, and only comes into action when the enemy activates it. Defense is active. It is ready, sharp and only held back because the person doesn’t want to take the offense. You can have your defenses down, but your protections up and they may never come done. Not that being protected is a bad thing. But sometimes, being defensive all the time is.

April 6, 2010 - Khalk reversed

Khalk reversed

Khalk is the letter K

There is no poem for khalk. It is a Northumbrian rune
Khalk (usually interpreted “cup” or “chalice) reversed indicates unfulfilled desires and longing. It is the cup of victory and attainment being emptied, possibly poured out, possibly spilled, maybe it has already been drunk, emptied to the dregs. There is no more to be had from this font, and now it is time to fill it again. Maybe something new, maybe something different, but there is no more to be had from this source, and seeking to quench your thirst from it will not satisfy, but instead leave you longing and unfulfilled.

Monday, April 5, 2010

April 5, 2010 - Uruz

Uruz

Uruz is the vowel U

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The aurochs is proud and has great horns;
it is a very savage beast and fights with its horns;a great ranger of the moors, it is a creature of mettle

Uruz (the auroch) symbolizes strength, power, and potential. As the auroch was the wild precursor to modern cattle, it is potential, the potential that can be shaped and formed to achieve ones desires. As the auroch was strong creature, that was very fierce and dangerous, it is also power and strength, material strength and spiritual strength, which are both valued. It is a bit more masculine, compared to what can be seen as it’s companion Ac (the oak) which is a bit more feminine. It is also a rune of healing, applying that strength to rebuilding what has been damaged, and giving it the power to be stronger, better and powerful with health. In a reading, it indicates that those values are being expressed or are needed in the situation. Sometimes you need to work, and apply power and your strength to situation, in order to make it right or at least work out as best as it can.

April 4, 2010 - Inguz

Inguz

Inguz is the suffix – ing

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Ing was first seen by men among the East-Danes,
till, followed by his chariot,he departed eastwards over the waves. So the Heardingas named the hero.

OMG! Again??? Somehow I think this rune is being quite literal today, with the Christian holy day of Easter. As Frey was a sacrificed god, who rose again, so it’s an easy symbolic connection to another figure who died and rose again.

Week of April 4 - 10 - Aethel

Aethel

Aethel is the dipthong oe

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

An estate is very dear to every man,
if he can enjoy there in his housewhatever is right and proper in constant prosperity

Aethel is the rune for this week, showing that family, home and land is the focus and concern. As it is also a rune of Wealth, you might find that you have opportunities for long term investments or real estate that maybe coming to fruition or coming towards. As it is a good time to focus on the family, living and deceased, and to enjoy the harmony that can be present there. All of your family, not just the blood relatives.

April 3, 2010 - Laguz reversed

Laguz Reversed

Laguz is the letter L

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The ocean seems interminable to men,
if they venture on the rolling barkand the waves of the sea terrify themand the courser of the deep heed not its bridle.

Today is Laguz reversed. When laguz appears reversed, it can have two possible meanings. It either shows things to be stagnant and unmoving, or that the flow of things has changed direction. It is no longer a flow going out from you, but flowing moving towards and in to you. Today feels like an inward flow. Energies, physical/mental/ spiritual are returning to you, most likely because you need them more then they are needed elsewhere. Perhaps there is blockage within and so the energies are working to overwhelm and break though. It might be for healing, it might be personal progress, but the flow is definitely moving in reverse. This might seem like a bad thing, but I suppose only if you are used to be an outgoing type of person.

April 2, 2010- Qweorth

Qweorth

Qweorth is the letter Q

There is no rune poem for Qweorth. It is one of the Northumbrian Runes.

The fire-twirl. The sacred fire. The fire of creation and destruction. The transforming fire. The funeral pyre. This is qweorth. This is the fire that changes everything. It brings heat and light and yet it can also bring destruction. Sometimes it can do both in a single stroke.

It is the opposite of Isa in every way. It is action and dynamic and going somewhere in contrast to Isa which is still, inert, and unmoving. Qweorth can melt and release what Isa has frozen and captured.

Sometimes though, you don’t want to release things, or at least, not quickly. But that is the way qweorth. If you aren’t ready to immediately deal with what is before you, don’t set it alight with qweorth. What maybe released from the destruction may not be what you thought you were getting.

April - Inguz

Inguz

Well, just see the entry for April 1, 2010. In the fun and frolic of All Fool’s Day, I forget to put up the month entry. It turns out it was a triple Inguz day. That’s a whole lotta Inguz, you know.

Inguz

Inguz is the suffix –ing

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Ing was first seen by men among the East-Danes,
till, followed by his chariot,he departed eastwards over the waves. So the Heardingas named the hero.

Inguz is the rune of gestation and catalysts. It is the seed held within the earth, waiting for the right conditions to burst forth in growth and being. Inguz (or Ing) is one of the names of Frey, the Vanic God of Fertility and Virility, the twin brother to Freya, the Goddess of Love and Fertility. His name actually translates as “Lord” (while her name means “Lady”).
The role of this week for Inguz I felt was to be one of gestation, holding the forces until the reach the right time to burst forth. So it holds for today. The forces are holding there, not in active, but not being expressed forth, locked in a slowly shifting dance until the right balance is achieved. Balance between what? Between inner power and outer expression. The inner power that is still, silent and constant, but it works best when it is expressed forth at the right time. For now, the two are strongly connected, but the outer expression needs to be encouraged, until the right time to rush forth in a illuminating blaze comes.
